Hunters

Basically Bush was formed as a family-owned business in 1998 to supply services to the pest-control industry. We purchase possum fur and skins from independant hunters and our primary focus is to support and ensure that the industry is profitable for them. We also lobby for the view that commercial harvesting of possums has legitimacy as a viable method for possum management.

The economic return from trapping and harvesting possum fur or skins depends on the skills of each hunter. The industry attracts participants with an entrepreneurial spirit, a love of outdoors, and a willingness to learn new skills.

Supplies

We sell possum traps and oil lures. You can buy them online here.

Possum skins

We will not be purchasing possum skins until 2025. Keep an eye out for updates.

Possum fur

Update 18 November 2024: Due to excess supply in the market, our agents have generally met their November quotas.

As a result of this we have decided to finish our 2024 buying season effective immediately.

We appreciate everyone who has supported us this year and we look forward to being able to recommence purchasing in 2025.
